WWE Trademark Application Hints At New NXT Tournament

WWE have recently applied for a pair of trademarks that hint at a big new concept for the return of NXT UK.

NXT UK has laid mainly dormant now for almost four months.

Since the start of the global COVID-19 pandemic, the brand has not filmed any new content, instead relying on archive footage.

There is no word on a restart date for tapings but Fightful have uncovered a recent trademark application that suggests a new tournament might be on the way.

According to the report, WWE have applied to trademark ‘Heritage Cup’ and ‘NXT UK Heritage Cup’

Could this be how WWE intends to bring the brand back with a bang?

Before the shutdown, NXT UK were set to hold their first Takeover event in Dublin, headlined by WALTER defending the UK Title against Finn Balor.

The event has been rescheduled for October but it remains to be seen whether it will be able to go ahead.
