WWE Clash Of Champions will take place on Sunday September 27th and last night on Raw, the first match was made official. Drew McIntyre will once again defend his WWE Championship against Randy Orton.
On last night’s Raw, Orton demanded a rematch with McIntyre following his SummerSlam loss. This was not granted and instead, three singles matches were set up to determine qualifiers for a triple threat match in the main event that would decide the number one contender.
In the first of these matches, Keith Lee easily defeated Dolph Ziggler. Orton himself then beat Kevin Owens to take the second spot.
The third match was supposed to see Seth Rollins face Rey Mysterio but a torn tricep suffered at Payback put the masked superstar on the shelf and he was replaced in the match by his son Dominik. Rollins took the victory to seal the final spot in the match.
In the main event, the finish came when Lee hit Rollins with a Super Spirit Bomb before Orton hit him with an RKO (Which we are contractually obliged to describe as ‘out of nowhere’) before stealing the pin on the Monday Night Messiah for the victory and the title match at the next Pay Per View.
Clash Of Champions will be broadcast live on the WWE Network.
