During last night’s episode of Friday Night Smackdown it was announced that Alexa Bliss will be taking on Raw Women’s Champion Asuka on the upcoming episode of Monday Night Raw. Bliss returned on Raw during the main event to confront Randy Orton and hit him with a fireball (Yes.. that really happened).
This will be Bliss’ first televised match since pinning former best friend Nikki Cross back in November. Bliss has undergone a major character change over the past few months so it is unsure how this match will go.
Asuka is currently a double champion as she is holding the Raw Women’s Championship as well as her newly won Women’s Tag Team Championship that she won with Charlotte Flair at the TLC PPV in December. With most of the women focused on the tag division right now it could be a good time for Bliss to inject herself back in the Women’s title picture.
Since losing to Ronda Rousey at Summerslam in August 2018, Bliss has been unable regain singles gold despite becoming a two-time Women’s tag team champion with Cross, including a win over Asuka and Kairi Sane at 2020’s Wrestlemania.
