As announced in February, WWE are planning to hold Wrestlemania 37 at the new SoFi stadium in Inglewood, Los Angeles on Sunday March 28th.
The brand new 100,000 seater stadium, which will play host to both NFL teams, the LA Chargers and The LA Rams, is currently in the final stages of construction.
Clearly, the world has changed since the announcement in February and large scale gatherings have been outlawed across the US meaning WWE events have taken place behind closed doors or with a minimal audience made up of NXT trainees.
According to Twitter page Wrestlevotes the WWE is still planning to run Wrestlemania in LA next March however they would like a decision by mid-December from the state of California on large scale gatherings, so they can change their plans accordingly if required.
WrestleMania 37 / Los Angeles update: WWE is still very much planning to run the event as scheduled. However, they don’t want this determination looming. Heard internally WWE would like a decision by mid December from the state of CA on large scale gatherings. Probably not good.— WrestleVotes (@WrestleVotes) July 15, 2020
Wrestlemania weekend and everything that goes with it, is the biggest event of the year for the WWE. They usually start selling travel package tickets around November, they will likely delay this until confirmation is received.
Mid December will only be just over three months before Wrestlemania is due to take place which suggests WWE are willing to give California, who took steps to reimpose certain lockdown measures this week, every chance to stage the event in full.
With a lucrative market like Los Angeles and the possibly of a mega attendance in the new state-of-the-art SoFi stadium it’s not hard to see why.
