On this week’s edition of Smackdown Adam Pearce announced that Roman Reigns will be defending his WWE Universal Championship inside the Elimination Chamber.
However, Paul Heyman is quick to mention that the contract that Reigns has says that while he will appear at major events, including Elimination Chamber, it doesn’t say he will defend INSIDE the Chamber, just that he will defend the title AT the Elimination Chamber PPV.
It’s agreed by Pearce that the winner of the Elimination Chamber match will face Reigns the same night at the PPV, and he already has the first two entrants in mind. The first is Jey Uso, much to the shock of Reigns and Uso himself. The second is, of course, Kevin Owens.
Qualifying matches are held to determine the other competitors. In the first match Rey and Dominik Mysterio come up short against Baron Corbin and Sami Zayn meaning Zayn and Corbin are both added to the Elimination Chamber match.
In the main event of the night Daniel Bryan and Cesaro qualify by defeating Dolph Ziggler and Bobby Roode when Ziggler tapped out to Cesaro’s Sharpshooter.
Which means that stepping in to the Elimination Chamber itself will be Kevin Owens, Jey Uso, Baron Corbin, Sami Zayn, Cesaro, and Daniel Bryan and the winner will need to make a fast recovery as he’ll be facing off with Roman Reigns in the very same night.
