This week on Raw, WWE confirmed what everyone already knew was coming.

Bobby Lashley will defend the WWE Championship against Drew McIntyre at WrestleMania on the weekend of April 10th and 11th.

The match was surprisingly confirmed before former champion McIntyre faces Sheamus at WWE Fastlane on Sunday.

Lashley won the title two weeks ago on Raw with a victory over The Miz in one of the most anticipated Raw moments in years. Miz himself had won the belt only eight days earlier with a win over the Scotsman. His victory came at Elimination Chamber directly after McIntyre had defended his title in the main event. Lashley surprising attacked the champion before Miz used his Money In The Bank contract to instigate a title match on the spot.

This incident set the table for the Lashley/McIntyre feud and this week on Raw, McIntyre drew parallels between the two having to leave WWE to prove themselves before coming back and finally reaching the top of the tree.

At Fastlane on Sunday, McIntyre will face his recent rival Sheamus in a Last Man Standing match. For full details about Fastlane, you can check our our handy explainer guide here.
