The card for Fyter Fest might be shaping up nicely but last night on NXT, WWE countered with their own two night Summer spectacular.
NXT: The Great American Bash will take place July 1st and 8th. The event’s second night will be headlined between a huge champion vs. champion match as NXT Champion Adam Cole faces North American Champion Keith Lee with both belts on the line.
This bout was confirmed after Lee defeated Finn Balor and Johnny Gargano in a thrilling triple threat match with his North American belt on the line.
The Great American Bash announcement is a clear and sensible move to steal some spotlight from AEW, who’s Fyter Fest event has been building over the last few weeks. The card has 11 matches so far announced over the two nights.
However, with Renee Young’s recent positive COVID-19 test, it remains to be seen whether her husband Jon Moxley will be medically cleared to participate in his AEW World Championship match against Brian Cage.
Several matches have also been announced for the first part of The Bash. The card as it stands is below:
Wednesday July 1st
- Women’s Title Number One Contender Match: Mia Yim vs. Tegan Nox vs. Candice LeRae vs. Dakota Kai
- Strap Match: Roderick Strong vs. Dexter Lumis
- Rhea Ripley vs. Aliyah & Robert Stone
Wednesday July 8th
- Winner Takes All Match for NXT Championship & North American Championship: Adam Cole vs. Keith Lee
