On last night’s episode of AEW Dynamite, Tully Blanchard stepped in the ring for a match for the first time since 2007 and what transpired led many observers to speculate that the legendary Four Horsemen faction may be about to ride again.
Blanchard was involved in the six-man tag alongside FTR, taking on all three members of Jurassic Express.
The surprises started when Blanchard came to the ring wearing his original robe and an NWA World Heavyweight Championship belt.
FTR had NWA Tag Team Championships around their waists and the trio were accompanied to the ring by former Horsemen manager JJ Dillon!
The match ended after FTR hit a spike piledriver on Luchasaurus, and Blanchard made the pin.
During the match we saw momentum-altering interference on the outside of the ring from a masked man, who revealed himself to be the returning Shawn Spears.
Spears, along with FTR have been the names speculated in the past when it has been rumoured that AEW were looking to bring a new version of the faction into the company. The fourth name most typically mentioned in that conversation?
Which made it all the more intriguing when former Horsemen lynchpin (And Rhodes’ coach) Arn Anderson came out on to the stage and offered the famous four fingered salute to his two former stablemates and the current stars in the ring.
