WBC Heavyweight Champion, Tyson Fury has issued a challenge to WWE Champion Drew McIntyre to get in the ring with him. The pair have exchanged words over social media numerous times since Drew became WWE Champion and Fury has now taken it up a notch.
Fury famously faced Braun Strowman at WWE Crown Jewel last October. He then made another appearance when the WWE came to Manchester the following month, and it seems he is ready to do it again.
Fury recorded the challenge to McIntyre on a train back home after spending the weekend in London for media commitments and meetings with his promoter Frank Warren. No doubt the subject of Deontay Wilder was featured heavily in those meetings.
Fury is due to fight Wilder for a third time, after defeating him last time out. The fight is contracted for 2020 however, reports suggest Wilders’ team are happy to wait until February 2021, to increase the chances of fans being in attendance to draw a gate.
In a recent interview Frank Warren told Boxing Social
“Tyson has a contractual commitment and that fight has got to happen by December”
Fury is not about to wait around until February to face Wilder. So is he looking at another WWE appearance (and hefty payday) to fill his time before, what would be a blockbuster fight with Anthony Joshua sometime next year?
