Next month, NXT will present their first ever two-night Takeover when Stand & Deliver takes place on the 7th and 8th April.
With three weeks to go until the big event, the card is shaping up to be an absolute cracker, with two major title matches set on this week’s NXT and a number of others all but set in stone.
At the very top of the card, it was made official that Finn Balor will defend the NXT Championship against Karrion Kross. The challenger was the previously holder of the belt but his reign was extremely short-lived, having to vacate the belt due to an injury sustained in his championship win over Keith Lee.
Kross and Scarlett confronted Balor last week and this week they teamed together to face NXT Tag Team Champions Danny Burch and Oney Lorcan. The two ended up getting physical when Kross attacked the champion at the conclusion of the match.
The other match confirmed will see a confrontation to determine the undisputed NXT Cruiserweight Champion when Jordan Devlin meets Santos Escobar.
Devlin won the title in early 2020 at the Worlds Collide event just before international travel was put on hold due to the pandemic, leaving him unable to leave Ireland to defend the title. Subsequently, NXT held a tournament to crown an interim champion that was won by Escobar. Soon after, the ‘interim’ branding of the reign was dropped and Escobar was recognised as the outright champion. Devlin returned to NXT this week to reclaim his position as champion and the two title-holders will meet at Stand & Deliver.
Whilst these are the only two matches confirmed so far, there are a number of other matches that are almost certain to take place on the event.
Io Shirai is highly likely to defend her NXT Women’s Championship against Raquel Gonzales after targeting the newcomer in recent weeks. In another title match, WALTER looks likely to defend his NXT UK Championship against Tommaso Ciampa after making his own return to NXT this week.
Finally, the huge grudge match between Adam Cole and Kyle O’Reilly is inching closer to being confirmed. To many NXT fans, this match will be the biggest draw on the card and it is only a matter of time until it is made official.
NXT TakeOver: Stand & Deliver will form part of an incredible nine night run of WWE programming in WrestleMania week including the Hall of Fame ceremony, Raw and SmackDown.
