In yet another example that COVID-19 can affect anyone, no matter how rich and famous they are, Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson has announced that he and his family have all tested positive for COVID-19.
Johnson, 48, his wife Lauren, 35, and their daughters Tiana and Jasmine have been dealing with the virus for between two and a half and three weeks.
All three are now healthy and no longer contagious, says Johnson.
The former WWE champion described the ordeal as “One of the most challenging and difficult things we have ever had to endure as a family,”
Johnson says they caught the virus from very close family friends, who were also unaware they were carriers. He had a very clear warning for those that underestimate their chances of infection:
“It baffles me that some people out there, including some politicians, will take this idea of wearing masks and make it part of a political agenda. It has nothing to do with politics. Wear your mask. It is a fact. And it is the right thing to do.”
Johnson, who was recently declared the world’s highest paid actor for the second year in a row by Forbes, compared COVID-19 to some of the other challenging times of his life:
“Testing positive for Covid-19 is much different than overcoming nasty injuries, or being evicted or even being broke, which I have been more than a few times,”
The new XFL co-owner announced the news on his Instagram account and described the surprise news as ‘A kick in the gut’
