The field is filling out for AEW’s 16 woman, 8 team Deadly Draw tournament. So far we know that Nyla Rose, Arianne (Known in WWE as Cameron), Brandi Rhodes and Allie will be taking part.
We can now add a fifth name, thanks to a reveal by Chris Jericho on his Saturday Night Special YouTube show.
That name is former NXT competitor Taynara Conti.
Conti was released from WWE on the infamous ‘Black Wednesday’ on April 15th this year along with dozens of other talent.
Conti always felt like a talent that was on the brink of being given a spotlight in NXT but it never quite happened.
The Brazilian joined the development league as a Performance Center trainee in 2016 with no wrestling background.
She enjoyed several prominent spots in her 3-plus years with the company.
She was one of a small handful of competitors to take part in the Mae Young Classic tournament in both 2017 and 2018. Conti lost to Lacey Evans in the first round in 2017 and to Lacey Lane in the second round in 2018.
Conti also took part in the women’s battle royal at WrestleMania 34.
Conti will now join AEW for the tournament due to start Monday 3rd August, broadcast on YouTube. It remains to be seen whether this will lead to a permanent roster spot.
