Roman Reigns Conspicuously Edited From Key WWE Highlight Package

Did you spot this odd little tweak on Raw?

It had been assumed that rumours of Roman Reigns being in company bad books for pulling out of his WrestleMania match with Goldberg were massively wide of the mark. It is well known that Reigns is recovering from a recent battle with Leukemia so his decision to isolate his family, including his newborn twins, during the COVID-19 pandemic is very sensible. On this basis, it felt like a case of the usual suspects putting 2+2 together and making 763 with regards to Reigns’ supposed ‘heat’.

With that in mind, it was certainly an eyebrow raiser to see a video package on Raw last night that WWE clearly went out of their way to exclude Reigns from.

Throughout Monday’s Raw, WWE ran a highlight countdown of the top 10 Money In The Bank moments in the run up to Sunday’s PPV of the same name. To nobody’s surprise, the clip picked in top spot was the incredible moment where Seth Rollins decided to cash in his MITB briefcase at WrestleMania 31, right in the middle of the WWE Championship match between Brock Lesnar and Roman Reigns. Or so we thought….

HOW ABOUT...  Huge Match Set For Raw Next Week To Decide WWE Championship Contender

As highlighted by Twitter user @punkjustice777, this clip clearly deliberately erases Reigns from the moment completely. There seems no doubt this was done purposefully. It would have been significantly harder to omit Reigns than include him…..But why?

Are the rumours of Reigns’ falling out of favour more substantial than most previously thought? Or do WWE top brass simply want to do all they can to keep Reigns image away from the programming so it gives casual fans less chance to realise such a big part of Smackdown Live is missing?

Our money is on the latter but it is certainly an interesting development and one worth keeping an eye on going forward.
