Report: Dexter Lumis Injury Ahead Of TakeOver Not A Storyline

In a world where everything can be perceived as a storyline, it would appear the injury to Dexter Lumis is all too real.

We reported last week that one of the competitors in the NXT North American Championship Ladder match at TakeOver 30 may be injured.

Dexter Lumis defeated Timothy Thatcher and Finn Balor to qualify for the TakeOver contest, however announced he had injured his ankle in the process.

Whilst injuries in wrestling often spark conversation of them being storyline based, Bryan Alvarez on the Wrestling Observer message board has said that the injury is now believed to be legitimate.

According to the report, the injury occurred when Lumis flew to the outside of the ring and landed on his feet. The landing was edited, so you didn’t actually see the impact.

Lumis continued the contest and won by making Thatcher pass out, however he now won’t compete at TakeOver, and chances are he will be out for much longer.

This means there are now three spots still up for grabs in the Ladder Match. One will be filled by the winner of a triple-threat this Wednesday between Kushida, Cameron Grimes and a mystery opponent.

The final two places will then be decided by singles matches involving those wrestlers who didn’t get beaten in the triple-threat qualifiers – those being Finn Balor, Johnny Gargano, Ridge Holland and the relevant wrestler from Wednesday’s match.
