The Wednesday Night War is certainly hotting up.
Recent special events on their regular TV shows showed the high level of competition between NXT and AEW Dynamite. Increasingly, we are also seeing both brands announce their cards well ahead of time, not to mention putting their best feet forward in terms of the quality of the cards offered.
And it seems like this week will be no different as NXT have announced a number of additional matches to add to those already made public.
Previously, we have been promised three huge matches with significant implications in each.
Firstly, Bobby Fish and Kyle O’Reilly of Undisputed Era will challenge for the NXT Tag Team Championship against current titleholders, Fabian Aichner and Marcel Barthel of the Imperium faction.
A number one contender match for the NXT Women’s Championship was also confirmed on this past week’s show. Dakota Kai and Rhea Ripley will face off to decide who will challenge Io Sharai at NXT Takeover 30 on Saturday August 22nd.
The final match already announced also had a spot at Takeover as the prize. Newcomer and former Rugby League player Ridge Holland will meet both Damian Priest and Oney Lorcan will meet in a triple threat match to decide who will join Bronson Reed and Dexter Lumis in the ladder match for the vacant NXT North American Title at Takeover.
Now we have two new matches to sink our teeth into.
NXT Champion Keith Lee will do battle with Cameron Grimes after Grimes interrupted his promo on last week’s show.
Finally, Bronson Reed will warm up for Takeover by facing off with fellow Australian Shane Thorne.
Once again, we are going to be getting a huge card on Wednesday. The competition will once again be fierce as Dynamite also has a strong card planned including the in ring debut of Matt Cardona (Zack Ryder) as he teams with Cody to face The Dark Order team of John Silver and Alex Reynolds.
Another Dark Order team (Brodie Lee, Colt Cabana, Stu Grayson, Evil Uno, Evil Five and Evil Ten) will take part in a bumper 6 vs. 6 match against The Young Bucks, FTR, Kenny Omega and Hangman Page.
We will also see a hotly anticipated AEW World Title match as Jon Moxley meets Darby Allin.
In addition, Orange Cassidy will face off with Chris Jericho in a special debate that is set to be moderated by a huge name special guest that you can read about here.
Whilst Raw and SmackDown may be losing viewers right now, both NXT and Dynamite look to keep up their long streak of quality shows with these fantastic cards this week.
