NXT will present New Year’s Evil on Wednesday 6th January, and we now known who will challenge Finn Balor for the NXT Championship.
A hard-hitting number one contender’s match took place last night between Pete Dunne and Kyle O’Reilly.
Either man would be a feasible contender, although it would have marked The Bruiserweight’s first shot at Balor’s gold.
However, it was O’Reilly who came out on top and gets the first shot at the gold next year.
This marks a rematch from their TakeOver 31 encounter, which both men walked away from with injuries and kept Balor on the shelf.
Triple H was quick to praise the quality of last night’s O’Reilly vs Dunne match.
