Madusa Opens AEW Women’s Tag Tournament; Former WWE Star Eliminated

A former WWE Women’s Champion was on hand to welcome us to The Deadly Draw, as a former Stamford employee was eliminated in the opening round.

The AEW Women’s Tag Team Tournament has officially begun, and the first two matches took place last night.

Opening ‘The Deadly Draw’ was WWE Hall Of Famer Madusa, welcoming us to the show and the whole tournament. Shaul Guerrero also acted as ring announcer for the show.

However, the first surprise elimination came in the form of former WWE star Ariane Andrew.

Andrew, known as Cameron in WWE, was eliminated alongside Nyla Rose by the team of Anna Jay and former NXT competitor Tay Conti.

In the other first-round match taking place on this episode, The Nightmare Sisters (Brandi Rhodes and Allie) were ‘surprisingly’ teamed up and defeated Penelope Ford and Mel.

Allie was shown to have cheated the random draw to ensure her and Brandi were paired together. Many mat remember Mel as a member of Rhodes’ I’ll-fated ‘Nightmare Collective’ stable.

Veda Scott was also Tony Schiavone’s partner on commentary.

It looks like this will be a weekly Monday night YouTube show, with the other two quarter-final matches set for the same time next week.

The two winning teams are on opposite sides of the bracket so neither can potentially meet until the final.
