Long Term Ring Announcer Released By WWE

WWE have released more staff this week including a legendary ring announcer and a number of other backstage personnel.

Following another round of staff cuts, today WWE long term ring announcer, Tony Chimel will be leaving the company according to PW Insider.

Chimel had been with the company officially since 1991. He was the original announcer for the Smackdown brand and had a short “feud” with Mr Kennedy in 2006.

Many fans will also remember Chimel from his association with Edge and he even helped induct him into the WWE Half Of Fame. His trademark method of announcing the ‘Rated R Superstar’ was a key part of Edge’s act.

Most of the recent cuts appear to be mainly focused on background staff and live event personnel.
