Kenta Wins New Japan Cup USA, Earns Shot At Mox’s IWGP US Title

A winner has been crowned in the New Japan Cup USA, however they will have to defend the briefcase they won before they get a shot at Jon Moxley’s title.

Kenta

The New Japan Pro Wrestling USA Cup 2020 has now concluded, with the winner earning a shot at Jon Moxley’s IWGP United States Championship.

Kenta bested David Finlay Jr in the final, which is available to view on NJPW World.

Kenta was presented with both a trophy for winning the tournament, and a briefcase with the contract for the shot at Mox – which he will now have to defend similar to NJPW’s standard G1 Climax format.

After winning the match using a low blow, Kenta called out Moxley ready for his title match, before he was attacked by Jeff Cobb seemingly setting up the first defence of the briefcase.

Time will tell if Mox will defend the belt in the United States, which could work well for both competitors, or when they return to Japan.
