It was reported last week that Kairi Sane’s WWE run may be over at the end of her contract later this year.
In an update in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter, those reports are confirmed as accurate and it seems that Sane will soon leave the company and head back to Japan to be with her husband.
In the WO, Meltzer reports that Sane was supposed to be written off television by means of a ‘career ending injury’ that would see whomever inflicted it go on to face Asuka for the Raw women’s title at SummerSlam.
It is thought these plans are now up in the air. Although Sane is now medically cleared to the ring after her recent Nia Jax-inflicted injury, the architect of the original plan, Paul Heyman, is no longer heading Raw’s creative. There is no word on whether these plans remain in place under the new creative team.
The Wrestling Observer also report that Sane was scheduled for today’s tapings, although it is not confirmed yet whether this is still the case or the opportunity has been used to give her a farewell of some sort on TV.
Whilst fans of the Sky Pirate will be immensely sad to see her leave, we can only hope that it brings her happiness as she heads home to be closer to family.
