After concerns surrounding The Collective weekender, AEW have taken the last-minute decision to remove ‘The Bad Boy’ from tonight’s Dynamite.

Joey Janela

In a rather last-minute twist for tonight’s episode of AEW Dynamite, Joey Janela has been removed from his match due to Coronavirus concerns.

‘The Bad Boy’ was set to face Kenny Omega in the quarter-finals of the AEW World Title Eliminator tournament, however the decision has been made by the company to take him off the show.

The official statement was made on Instagram:

AEW and Joey Janela learned today that he had exposure to a known COVID-19 positive person at an independent show. For that reason we are pulling him until such time as he is cleared to return consistent with our protocols.

There have been a lot of Concerns around The Collective which took place ten days ago, and featured Janela’s fourth “Spring Break” event.

Having originally been set to take place on WrestleMania weekend, the revised show saw Janela lose to Ricky Morton after taking a piledriver through a table and a Canadian destroyer.

There have been a number of competitors across many of the promotions who were part of the event who have confirmed positive COVID-19 tests, and everyone who was in attendance has been advised to get tested.

As for tonight, Sonny Kiss will replace ‘The Bad Boy’ in taking on Omega.
