Huge Angle And Shock Return Concludes This Week’s NXT

This week’s NXT saw a show long angle threaded around the announced tag team title match. It concluded in a huge angle that change’s the fabric of the whole show.

NXT - Breezango Vs The Undisputed Era

Last night’s episode of NXT saw one of the brand’s most impactful show long storylines play out that featured a title change, a whodunnit, a heel turn, a surprise return and a new faction seemingly formed.

And it worked like a charm.

The events began to unfold early in the night. Ahead of the Undisputed Era challenging Breezango for the NXT Tag Team Championship, Bobby Fish was attacked from behind by an unknown assailant, leaving him unable to compete in the tag title match. It was quickly decided that Kyle O’Reilly would instead tag with Roderick Strong to represent the UE.

Later on, Strong himself was found laid out backstage and with Adam Cole not medically cleared to step in, it was decided that the UE would forfeit their shot and Oney Lorcan and Danny Burch would step in.

That match went down in the main event. With Fandango and Tyler Breeze seemingly in control, a masked man ran out to knock Fandango off the top rope allowing Burch and Lorcan to get the win and take the titles.

After the match, the mystery man embraced the new champs and then unmasked to reveal…PAT MCAFEE!

HOW ABOUT...  Big Ratings Win For AEW On Wednesday Night

This was McAfee’s first appearance since his loss to Adam Cole at NXT TakeOver 30. The trio proceeded to mock the Undisputed Era and it looks very much like we have a new heel faction to feud with the seemingly now fully babyface UE.

A hugely unexpected turn of events provides NXT with a wonderful cliffhanger going into next week’s Halloween Havoc episode. It will be fascinating to see how that plays out.
