WWE Set The Scene For Two Major NXT TakeOver Matches As Injured Star Returns In Exciting Show Closing Angle

Finn Balor managed to retain his NXT Championship against Adam Cole, but both men would come face to face with prospective opponents.

Finn Balor vs Adam Cole

It was a historic title match to finish a bumper night on NXT – and a match Adam Cole himself had said would decide the best NXT Champion of all time.

It wasn’t to be his night though, as Finn Balor retained the title following a distraction by a former friend of Cole’s.

With Cole on the outside, Kyle O’Reilly appeared at ringside and confronted a ‘shocked’ Adam Cole.

This was enough for Balor to pick up the win, and Cole tried to escape before he was attacked by O’Reilly.

It wasn’t as if The Prince would get out unscathed – as a new challenger for his throne made himself known.

Balor came face to face with Karrion Kross, who was making a clear intent that time is running out on Balor’s reign.

These two matches would be main events in their own right – and could well be the direction we’re going in for the two-day NXT TakeOver: Stand And Deliver next month.
