As mentioned on this very website yesterday via Fightful Select, word had got out that Tessa Blanchard would indeed be back in time to defend her Impact World title at Slammiversary.

That word, as it turns out, was spot on.

It will be Tessa vs Michael Elgin vs Eddie Edwards vs Ace Austin vs Trey Miguel at the PPV, scheduled for July 18.

There were mounting fears that Blanchard would be stripped of the title she won in a huge precedent for the championship which boasts a lineage including Kurt Angle, AJ Styles, Mick Foley, Sting, Samoa Joe and Jeff Hardy.

This was due to the champ being away from what tapings Impact could indeed put together during the COVID-19 pandemic.

However, she will be back in time for a multi-person melee in which the risk of losing the belt is as high as catching the virus when you decide to spend the day on a packed beach in Bournemouth.

Scott D’Amore made the match official on the latest edition of Impact television:

More matches are expected to be confirmed for the card over the coming weeks.
