In a sign of the growing influence of wrestling on mainstream sports and entertainment culture, Charlotte Flair has become the first wrestler to join Vaynersports, one of the world’s most prominent sports talent agencies.
Founded by social media mega-influencer Gary Vaynerchuk and his brother AJ in 2016, VaynerSports boasts a strong and growing list of top athletes including UFC Heavyweight Champion Stipe Miocic and Colby Covington, Charlotte Flair joins an agency with huge presence in entertainment.
The timing is hugely interesting. With WWE recently cracking down on superstars using their WWE affiliated branding to work with third party commercial entities, this move by multi-time WWE Women’s Champion Flair can only expose her further to just such tie ups. Could this be a grenade lobbed back at WWE in this growing battle over brand identity? If that is the case, expect more prominent wrestling names to join Flair in the coming weeks and months.
