Brodie Lee has had a successful year since debuting in AEW this past March. At the time, a lot of the talk was surrounding the vignettes and the apparent likeness to a certain Mr McMahon.

In a preview for this week’s episode of the AEW Unrestricted podcast with Tony Schiavone and Aubrey Edwards, the former Luke Harper talks about his debut as “The Exalted One” and how early vignettes and his suits saw fans comparing him to Vince McMahon. He explained that this reaction was something he didn’t want and tried to distance himself, adding that he now gets new attire every few months.

“The Vince McMahon comparisons flew! That’s all people talked about the first 3 to 4 weeks of my AEW career, and that became I think detrimental to me, and I didn’t like it. I didn’t want it. So I tried to get away from the stuff that they were saying so as opposed to a multi-colored suit, I now went with a full tailored to me that I don’t think looks like a Vince McMahon or anybody else. This is my bi-monthly routine now, is to go get a suit made, and I love it.”

After a brief stint as TNT Champion before dropping it back to Cody earlier this month, Lee has taken something of a back seat on AEW programming as the promotion moves towards Full Gear. Expect that to change after the PPV on Saturday November 7th.
