Don’t you dare be sour, because Big E is about to get a singles push in WWE that many feel is long overdue.
This week’s SmackDown included a backstage segment which saw Kofi Kingston tell his New Day partner that he was facing six weeks our injured. With the third member of the team, Xavier Woods in the midst of a long term injury absence, this leaves Big E as the sole healthy member of the record setting formed tag team champions.
On the first SmackDown after the pair lost their Tag Titles to Cesaro and Shinsuke Nakamura in a tables match at Extreme Riles, Kingston told his long-time partner that now is his time to shine and to go it along as a singles wrestler for the time being.
Many fans have been calling for a singles push for Big E for sometime and it appears that circumstances have allowed this to happen. The New Day members have all been adamant they want to remain a team in the long term, but this doesn’t stop the individual members forging their own path as singles from time to time.
Most notably, Kingston himself was able to win the WWE Championship from Daniel Bryan at WrestleMania 35.
