The nature of Kenny Omega winning the AEW World Championship surprised many in wrestling.
With the help of Impact Executive Don Callis, ‘The Cleaner’ snatched the title from Jon Moxley on Dynamite last week.
The pair then appeared on Impact this week, in a sit-down interview with Josh Matthews.
There were other references to the storyline during the show, such as Rich Swann trying to leave and “the champion” having the parking lot blocked off.
Tommy Dreamer also discussed the situation with Scott D’Amore, another Impact Executive, saying that these kind of things never go down well backstage.
However, one of the other shocking moments came when AEW Owner Tony Khan also appeared on the show.
Alongside Tony Schiavone, Khan was part of a ‘paid advertisement’ by AEW on the show, inviting Omega and Callis to explain their actions on Dynamite.
Whilst this is a natural continuation of the story, it is extremely rare for Khan to appear on screen on his own show, let alone on Impact.
