At last night’s AEW All Out PPV, Matt Hardy took a sickening bump during his Broken Rules match with Sammy Guevara.
The bump came early in the match when Guevara speared Hardy from an elevated platform, through a table. The pair overshot the landing and Hardy’s head hit the concrete hard and without support.
The match was stopped with Hardy struggling to regain his balance and looked like a concussion had occurred. Surprisingly, the match was then restarted with Hardy quickly winning the match after both men climbed a rig and Guevara fell off.
Hardy was immediately taken to hospital for CT & MRI scans. Now AEW President Tony Khan has tweeted to say Hardy is fine.
An update on Matt Hardy: it’s great news! Matt’s ok, we sent him to the hospital as a precaution & he’s passed the MRI + CT scans, he doesn’t have a concussion, and he’s being driven home now. Matt will be at Dynamite on Wednesday night to thank you amazing fans for your support!— Tony Khan (@TonyKhan) September 6, 2020
Hardy’s wife Reby also voiced her significant displeasure with all concerned on Twitter. She has since set her Twitter account to private.
AEW faced its first significant fan backlash over the incident with fans fans openly suggesting they played fast and loose with performer wellbeing simply to complete a planned finish.
Khan’s claims run counter to this, suggesting all is well with Hardy and he will be back on TV on Wednesday.
If this is accurate, that is wonderful news. It looked like a significant injury at the time with even Hardy’s wife clearly extremely concerned.
If there are any updates to this report in time, we will bring them to you.
