On this day in wrestling history….WWE action came to the Royal Albert Hall in London, England.

1991 – WWE presented their first event from the historic Royal Albert Hall in London, England. The event was headlined by a 20-man battle royal with the winner taking home the Royal Samovar trophy. The match was won by ‘The British Bulldog’ Davey Boy Smith.

1999 – WWE circulated a press release to announce that writers Vince Russo and Ed Ferrara were leaving the company to become the head writers for rivals WCW.

2004 – WWE No Mercy took place at the Continental Airlines Arena in East Rutherford, New Jersey. The main event saw John ‘Bradshaw’ Layfield successfully defend his WWE Championship against The Undertaker.

2005 – Monday Night Raw returned to its original home, the USA Network, after five years broadcasting on Spike TV (Formerly TNN). The show was titled ‘Raw: Homecoming’. It was the first ever three-hour Raw and had a triple main event. Edge defeated Matt Hardy to retain his Money In The Bank contract in a ladder match, Kurt Angle and Shawn Michaels fought to a 2-2 draw in a 30-minute Ironman Match and in the night’s last match, John Cena defeated Eric Bischoff in a No Disqualification WWE Championship match.

2008 – SmackDown aired its first episode on their new US broadcast channel, MyNetwork TV. The main event saw WWE champion Triple H emerge victorious in a triple threat match with World Heavyweight Champion Chris Jericho and ECW Champion Matt Hardy.

2010 – WWE ‘Hell In A Cell’ took place at the American Airlines Arena in Dallas Texas. The main event saw Kane retain the World Heavyweight Championship in a Hell In A Cell match against The Undertaker.

2016 – In the main event of Raw from the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California, Sasha Banks defeated Charlotte Flair to win the Raw Women’s Championship.
